Bring your students, and take something back with you
No group fee, no minimum, no maximum we cannot work with. Teachers and homeschool parents get a direct contact here, before and after the day.
Needs: the one-page PDF itself, letter size, print safeHow to bring a group
Email a headcount and an age range and we hold bench capacity for you. Groups of 10 or more get a suggested route through the room so students are not all queueing at one bench. One adult per 8 students is what works in practice.
Buses can unload at the MacCorkle Avenue entrance. There is no charge for anything, including parking.
What it maps to
The benches cover physical computing, algorithms and programming, hardware and systems, and iterative design and troubleshooting. Students write code that changes something physical, then debug it in front of you, which is the part a worksheet cannot do.
Needs: specific WV CS standard codes per bench, checked against the current frameworkTalk to a Certified Educator
West Virginia's first Raspberry Pi Certified Educator runs this event and is in the room all day. Bring the course you already teach and the constraint you are stuck with, whether that is one cart of laptops, no budget, or a schedule with no room in it. The useful version of this conversation is specific.
Ask at the front desk and somebody will find him.
After the event
You keep an email address that a human answers. The department can help with lesson starters, sourcing a class set of Pi kits, and a visit to your classroom where that is possible. This is the part that turns one Saturday into something ongoing, and it is the reason we ask which school you are from.
